Lazer Design School was founded in 2019 by laser design specialist Alex Lawton in Brisbane, AU

Founder & Laser Design Specialist
Alex is a laser cutting designer who started Lazer Unicorn over 9 years ago to learn more about laser cutting. She also co-owns the laser cutting studio Vector Etch and has travelled around Australia hosting acrylic earring making workshops since 2018.
Alex has always been a creator and teacher, from when she first used to enjoy setting up toys for her younger siblings to play with, through to running scrapbooking workshops at the age of 12. She gets super nerdy around the topic of design and laser cutting, with spreadsheets and shortcuts being her favourite parts of the process.
Alex was the first employee of Vector Etch 7 years ago and is now a co-owner. This lead to her starting Lazer Unicorn as her side project with encouragement from the rest of the team. Naturally she was drawn to the teaching and workshop side, as she began running workshops where people could create their own earrings and brooches using her laser cut designs.
The rest is history as she has now used her passion to start Lazer Design School, where she can channel her love for teaching and design into creating the next generation of laser cut creatives.

Tyler Hood
Creative Director & Graphic Designer
Tyler is a graphic designer & musician with over 15 years in the design and advertising industry.
His passion lies in adding a creative touch to everything we do here at Lazer Design School, and making sure the experience is always enjoyable.
Before jumping into running Lazer Design School full time with Alex, Tyler spent 5 years as an Art Director at an Automotive Advertising Agency, where he explored his love of cars and design. Tyler is also a co-owner of Vector Etch, and the founder of a 80s car community and accessory brand GeoTokyo. He is also in an indie pop band that doesn’t take themselves too seriously called Dad’s Fastest Swimmers. Tyler loves film photography, cruising in his old BMW and of course hanging with his favourite doggo, Forest.
